Detailed information about ACEPI’s use of cookies follow:
What are cookies?
Generally speaking, a cookie is a small amount of data (text files) that can contain an anonymous identification code, which is transferred by the visited website’s web server to the user’s terminal (PC, notebook, tablet, or smartphone), usually to the browser the user has chosen, and which is transferred back to the website the next time, if any, the user visits it. Such cookie gets read and recognized only by that website, each time the user visits the website. The user’s terminal may also receive cookies sent by other websites or web servers (so called “third-parties”), which may contain elements (like, for example, pictures, maps, sounds, links to webpages) present on the website the user is consulting.
Cookies can be used with different purposes: to monitor internet sessions, to memorize information concerning specific configurations to customize the user experience, informatics authentications execution, etc.
Cookie can be defined and classified in different ways. One possible way is to define three macro-categories, namely “technical cookies”; “profiling cookies”, and “third-party cookies”.
1. Technical cookies
Technical cookies are used with the sole purpose of transferring a message through an electronic communication network, in the proper measure required by the type of service the provider is explicitly requested to produce by the subscriber or the user of such service, and there is no need of explicit consent by the user.
Technical cookies are not used for further purposes than those described above and are usually installed by the owner or administrator of the website. They can be:
a) Session or navigation cookies: they allow the user to proceed to standard activities of navigation and use of the website (for example, allowing online purchases or authentication)
b) Analytics cookies, which are considered technical cookies as long as the webmaster uses them to collect aggregate information about the number of users visiting the website and the features of their sessions
c) Functionality cookies, which allow the user to experience the website according to a number of criteria (for example, a choice of language or a selection of items to purchase) improving the quality of the service provided.
2. Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are aimed to create personal profiles for each user and are used so as to send advertising consistent with the user’s preferences as emerging from his or her internet habits. Both the Italian and European law require the webmaster to properly inform the user about the use of such cookies; the user must be given the chance to express his or her consent to such data collection.
3. Third-party cookies
These cookies allow the website to memorize the user’s data for a timespan which may coincide with the single visit or for longer, allowing the user to experience a more efficient navigation through webpages as well as an interaction with social networks and third-party services.
Websites whose contents are available on our website may set third-party cookies on such content.
Every internet browser can be customized so as to accept all cookies, to reject all, or to receive a notification each time a cookie is sent. It is also possible to delete cookies which have been memorized on the terminal. The following links contain useful information to set cookies preferences for the most common web browsers.

Users can also use the following tool to customize his or her browser’s cookie policy. The deactivation of some cookies may affect the user experience.

The decision to reject all cookies may cause the impossibility to use some of ACEPI’s services which require them; most of ACEPI’s services, however, do not require to accept cookies to work properly.
